    This three-day trek, which is called Bumthang owl trek around Bumthang valley with varied vegetation. Views of an unspoiled natural environment endowed with a diverse array of flora and fauna, as well as an opportunity to visit ancient Buddhist temples and monasteries. The trail takes you to forest of blue pine, birch, maple, spruce, juniper, bamboo, and rhododendrons forest. As you go on you will see mount Gangkar Puensum the unclimbed mountain on the planet.

    The Details of 3 days Bumthang Owl trek in Bumthang Valley

    The trail takes you through forests of blue pine, spruce, juniper, bamboo, birch, maple, and a beautiful landscape with varieties of rhododendrons. When you move towards the ridges and mountains and can view Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the highest unclimbed peak in the world. In april and May you see animals of Bhutan in this area and pheasants such as Himalayan Tragopan.

    One of the best times to undertake this trek is in late spring, between April and early June when the rhododendrons are in full bloom. When trekking through this area in autumn there is a possibility of encountering Himalayan Black bears so caution should be exercised. If it is possible to schedule your trek during one of the local festivals, you will be able to enjoy an additional insight into the traditions and culture of this region.

    Itinerary

    Day 1Manchugang - Dhur Village

    The trek starts from Manchugang and takes you to Dhur village at altitude of 2900m. The nomadic of this region two distinct dialects. on the trek you can see a traditional water-driven flour mill on the riverside. The trek takes you an uphill climb through blue pine forests. Camsite at Schonath with elevation of 3450m. Night time you will observe with hooting of owls.

    Day 2Dhur Village - Drangela Pass

    The second day of this trek is through forest of hemlock, fir, spruce and numerous types of rhododendrons. After couple of hours you will see the base of Drangela Pass with elevation of 3600m. Starting here you can have a new perspective of snow topped mountains and valleys underneath. You can see the mount Gangkarpunsum at elevation of 7541m.

    Day 3Drangela Pass - Tharpaling monastry

    The last day of the three days trek will take you to religious communities of Zambhalha, Chuedak and Tharpaling. Chuedak religious community has 100 Avoloketeshvaras as Chukchizhey (eleven heads). By evening time you will see the edge of Kikila. At last you see view of Jakar Dzong and reach end of the trek at Bumthang.
