The iconic monastery in the World “Tigers Nest is just on the other side of the Valley on the granite rock. You can start day hiking to the monastery and come back and have a great evening at the luxury campsite Tigers Nest. It will take 10 minutes to drive to reach the base camp of Tigers Nest Monestry.

Drugyel Dzong
Drukgyel Dzong was a fortress to protect Paro Valley during Shabdrung Nawang Namgyel(Founder of Bhutan). Now in ruins, located in the upper part of the Paro Valley of Bhutan. The fortress was built on the hilltop with a strategic location by Tenzin Drukdra in 1649. It was built to commemorate the victory over an invasion of Tibet.
In the early 1950s, Drukgyel Dzong was almost completely destroyed by fire. It is on Bhutan’s tentative list for UNESCO list.
In the year 2016, the birth of The Gyalsey(5th King Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk’s eldest son), commemorates the arrival of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel to Bhutan in 1616 AD and the birth year of Guru Rinpoche. Prime Minister Lyonchen Tshering Tobgay (2nd Primeminister of Bhutan) announced that the Dzong will be rebuilt and reinstated to its former glory. The announcement and groundbreaking ceremony took place a day after the Prince was born.
